Time travel – moving between different points in time – has been an interesting topic for decades. Whether it’s scientifically possible or not, the ability to travel through time to stop certain events from happening or altering our future does seem pretty impressive. Hollywood movies such as Back to the Future, Doctor Who and Star Trek make it seem remarkable. However, not all scientists believe that it is possible and that an attempt would be fatal to any human who chooses to go through the process. Whether it’s possible or not, there are certain historical images that people have used as proof that many have successfully traveled through time. Here, we are listing a few images of some of our favorite celebrities, that makes us wonder if they are truly immortal or even time travelers.
1. Nicolae Grigorescu and Orlando Bloom
Nicolae Grigorescu was a Romanian painter and one of the founders of modern Romanian painting. Born in 1843, in Pitaru, Dâmboviţa County, Wallachia (now called Romania), Grigorescu was well known for his works of art. Born on January 13, 1977, Orlando Bloom is best known for his work in The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Hobbit film series.
2. A Redditor’s great great grandfather and Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey is known for his role in the comedy Dazed and Confused as well as many others. A Redditor recently found an image of his great great grandfather and came to realize that he and Matthew McConaughey had something in common; they almost look identical. Did you know that Matthew McConaughey had no prior experience in acting? One day in 1993, he met a producer at a bar at 3:30 in the morning, who asked him to come down to a set at 9:30. In less than six hours, his career was launched with Dazed and Confused.
3. Stalin and Zayn Malik
Joseph Stalin (1878-1953) was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). From 1929 to 1953, Stalin transformed the Soviet Union from a peasant society to an industrial and military superpower. Zayn Malik, born on January 12, 1993, was one of the five members of One Direction, which is one of the most popular boy bands in music history. Malik left the band in 2015 and the next year, released his first solo album.

According to the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, Charles Burns was sentenced to 3 months at Newcastle City Gaol for the crime of false pretenses. Burns, who was born in Liverpool, was convicted between 1871 – 1873. Justin Timberlake, an American singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, and record producer, was born on January 31, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee.
5. Rose Wilder Lane and Maggie Gyllenhaal
Born on December 5, 1886, Rose Wilder Lane, an American journalist, travel writer, novelist, and political theorist, was one of three women who launched the modern American libertarian movement. Maggie Gyllenhaal, born on November 16, 1977, is possibly one of Hollywood’s most underrated actresses. Maggie became famous for her role in Donnie Darko as well as The Dark Knight, in which she played Rachel Dawes. Maggie and brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, are the first brother and sister duo to be nominated for an Academy Award in the 21st century.
6. A Redditor’s great-grandmother and Maisie Williams
Another Redditor came across a picture of his great-grandmother from the 1950’s, who has an extreme similarity with Maisie Williams. Maisie, who is known for her role in the popular hit series Game of Thrones, plays Arya Stark. She made her acting debut in the HBO fantasy drama series in 2011, at the age of 12. The show gave her a lot of critical acclaims as well as awards including the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor. She also became the youngest actor to win the Portal Award in the “Best Supporting Actor” category.
7. A Redditor’s great aunt and Harry Potter
Thanks to the popularity of the internet, people now can easily share stories with others all over the world. A Redditor recently discovered an image of his great aunt and realized that she and Harry Potter looked the same. Daniel Radcliffe plays the character Harry Potter, in the Harry Potter film series, based on the novels by J. K. Rowling.
8. Caligula and Joffrey Baratheon
Gaius Caesar, also known as Caligula, served as Roman emperor from 37 to 41 A.D. Records depict him as a cruel and unpredictable leader. Joffrey Baratheon is a character from the popular HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, who is also a cruel and unjust king. The fictional character is played by Jack Gleeson, an Irish actor, who won critical acclaim for his role.
9. A Redditor’s family member and Channing Tatum
Another Redditor found a member of his family who unusually resembles Channing Tatum. Today, Tatum has a successful career as well as fans all over the world. His success did not come easily though and before being discovered for his amazing ability to act, Tatum used to be a lap dancer. He was born in Alabama but grew up in Mississippi. After working a series of odd jobs, he began working at a local strip club as a lap dancer with the nickname, “Chan Crawford”. He eventually moved to Miami and happened to be discovered by a model talent scout; changing his life forever.
10. A man in a top hat and Barack Obama
Barack Obama was the first African American to be elected to the presidency. He became the 44th president of the United States from 2009 and was re-elected to serve until 2017. The image of a man in a top hat that has a similar resemblance to Obama has been circulating the internet.
