1. They gift each other presents that are really out of this world.
In 2010, for Russell Brand’s 35th birthday, his then girlfriend bought him a trip to outer space. Richard Branson’s suborbital spaceflight allows wealthy people to get a once in a lifetime experience, and that’s exactly what Katy Perry bought for Russell Brand. The single seat on the mothership’s maiden voyage cost about $200,000, which will take Russell 365,000 feet straight into the Earth’s atmosphere at a speed three times faster than the speed of sound. However, the spacecraft is still in the testing stages, but the company hopes that by the end of 2020, their spaceliners will be fully operational.
2. They rent out an entire movie theater so that they can watch movies peacefully.
It’s not unusual for celebs to rent an entire movie theater for their friends and family members. In 2016, rapper/actor Ludacris admitted through a social media post that “Sometimes you have to rent the entire movie theater out for your fam and young ones to yell and disrupt the movie in peace #nowthatsludicrous”. The same thing happened with the late Michael Jackson back in 2003, when a supermarket was closed down so he could fulfill his dream of visiting a supermarket and shop like everybody else and experience what it was like to “put things in a basket”. His friends and family members pretended to be fellow shoppers and employees.
3. They are willing to spend any amount of money in order to retrieve their beloved possession.
Like every other human being, celebrities can become attached to their possessions. According to The Telegraph, in 2003, U2 lead singer and activist Bono was flying to Italy for a concert when he forgot his beloved hat. Of course he didn’t perform without his hat because Bono paid $1,200 and had the hat flown back to him, on a first class seat on British Airways.
4. They spend millions every year to keep their hair just the way it’s supposed to.
It’s important for celebrities to maintain their appearance. Not only does it provide them with the self-confidence they need, but it also pleases their beloved fans. In 2011, it was revealed the Rihanna spends an average of $15,000 a week on her hair alone. Top celebrity stylist Ursula Stephen, who charges almost $3,000 a day, helps keeps Rihanna’s hair at bay. ‘Rihanna likes to pioneer new styles but it’s costing her a fortune,’ says one of her entourage. ‘She makes several public appearances a week, and the cost soon stacks up. To put things into perspective, the cost amounts to more than $1,168,000, annually.
5. They like to invest in things that are shiny, like a diamond mine.
R&B sensation Akon is known for his various charitable works as well as the Lighting Africa project. According to The Guardian, he is also the proud owner of a diamond mine in South Africa. Not much is known about his purchase of the mine other than the fact that the singer states that his ownership is “complicated”.
6. They love flowers so much that they will spend up to half a million every year on them.
In the early 2000’s, Sir Elton revealed that he spent £293,000 (that’s $395,400 in U.S. dollars) on flowers in less than 2 years. “I like flowers,” he said. “I don’t have any people to leave my money to, I’m a single man, I like to spend money. It’s my money to spend”. While it’s understandable that it’s his money to spend, it’s still a lot of flowers… a whole lot!
7. Some of them are obsessed with typewriters and own a lot of them.
Celebrities are known for being extreme art or vintage collectors. Tom Hanks is one such celeb who has a never-ending love for vintage typewriters. According to some reports, Hanks has around 250 typewriters in almost every make, style and year. He also makes sure that he uses or types something in at least one of them every single day. His obsession for typewriters is so much that in 2013, Hanks wrote an op-ed for The New York Times about all the cool sounds typewriters make.
8. They hire people to do things they don’t like.
Kim Kardashian is not a fan of the sleeve on Starbucks coffee cups. In 2017, she said, “I hate the sleeve on a Starbucks cup. I leave the room for someone to take it off for me because I cringe from the sound. It’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. I hate cardboard”. While it’s not known whether she pays anyone to remove the sleeve for her, it sure is a simple task for millions around the world.

The professional boxer is popular throughout the world and so is his extravagant purchases. For his mansion in Ohio, Tyson spent $2.2 million on a 24 karat gold bathtub, so he can literally bathe in gold.

In case you were wondering, Paris Hilton’s dogs have their own social media profiles as well as their own mansion. When her beloved pets are not lounging around inside Louis Vuitton trunks or traveling the world with her, they spend their time inside a luxe L.A. mansion. Hilton reportedly spent $325,000 on the mini manse back in 2009 for her eight pups.
